Using Art to Help the World
Each semester in an art class in a suburb of Taichung City, Taiwan, students design stickers that their teacher has printed professionally as a lesson and keepsake for the elementary students who attend the class.
This semester, students were learning about the news of children in Gaza who have lost their homes, families, and all of their belongings due to the conflict in the region. The students felt deeply sympathetic for the children and wanted to do something to help. They expressed their feelings through their art, creating drawings and paintings that depicted the suffering of the children in Gaza. The teacher used this opportunity to have a discussion about empathy and compassion, and the students brainstormed ways to support and help the children in Gaza. It was a powerful lesson in empathy and the importance of reaching out to those in need.
As a part of an annual Christmas Bazaar at an international School in Taichung City, their teacher will be selling their sticker sheets and donating the profits to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund, PCRF. Learn more about PCRF here.
Hues of Hope exists to empower artist, creatives, and anyone who wants to benefit the world through art and creative pursuits. Though in it's infancy it has been a long-held goal to use funding, resources, and networks to help artists create and to use their creativity for activism, humanitarian work, planet-care, and other charitable pursuits.
Hues of Hope is an art project developed by Thai Martin. Its future is unknown and he is determining whether to develop Hues of Hope into NGO or pursue existence as a for-profit entity. Donations are not being taken.
